Mellor Bromley are delighted to have recently secured the refurbishment and re-commissioning works of Building 42, at the Loughborough based science, technology and enterprise park – Charnwood Campus.

Mellor Bromley will be acting as Principal Contractor for the works, employed directly by Charnwood Campus.

The works will involve bringing back in to service an existing research and development laboratory facility that has remained dormant since the facility ceased its operations back in 2011.

The Mechanical and Electrical design for the project has been carried out by Couch Perry Wilkes, Leicester Office.

Key industrial scale services such as laboratory ventilation, fume extraction and specialist gases are to be fully re-commissioned and put back in to working operation as part of the contract.

Following what is likely to be a challenging start to dismantle and remove various large scale existing services and redundant equipment, new gas fired boiler plant (5 megawatt) and air-cooled chiller plant, including all new distribution services will form part of the installation works.

A full overhaul of the building management system and compressed air systems are just a few of the mechanical services items also being addressed throughout the building.

Works on site are due to commence in the coming weeks, and we look forward to successfully completing the project for Charnwood Campus later in the year.
