Mellor Bromley have been awarded the Mechanical and Electrical package on a prestige project in the centre of London, directly for the University of London.

The project consists of four large buildings in the capital, namely Connaught Hall, College Hall, International Hall and Nutsford House, where Mellor Bromley have been employed as the Principle Contractor.

The work consists of the replacement of a number of central boiler houses, with the addition of rectification works within the service risers and under croft areas to all of the student accommodation buildings.

The work is due to start in October 2018 and will be carried out whilst the buildings remain occupied with staff and students.

A large part of our remit includes the refurbishment of various plant rooms, with new boiler plant, associated pumps and ancillaries, a new BMS Control System and associated electrical works. Builders works and re-decoration also form part of the contract.

Work is also being carried out to replace defective and/or poorly installed mechanical and electrical services within the existing service risers of the buildings, all of which will need to be carefully integrated at various times with the building occupants and in line with the university protocols.

The project was won as a competitive tender and was awarded to us based upon our presentation and industry experience, as well as our competitive price.

The project is valued at circa £1.5 million and is the first project that we have won for this client.
